During the noon workshop Monday, the Bryan ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to approve the promotion of current Jane Long Middle School Assistant Principal Cody Satterfield to the lead role of principal. Trustees also unanimously approved the appointment of veteran school administrator Robert Welsh as transportation director.
“We’re very excited to know that Ms. Satterfield will step into the role filled so well at Jane Long by outgoing Principal Lindsay Harris,” said Superintendent Tommy Wallis. “Under Ms. Harris, Cody had one of the best mentors in the district, and we know she will build upon Jane Long’s success by continuing to offer students a first-class education.”
“Mr. Welsh has a rich, unique and diverse background in public schools, having served in many different roles,” Wallis said. “He has been a coach, teacher, assistant principal, principal and superintendent at smaller districts. Most recently, he coordinated transportation and other student services in Melissa ISD. His military background gives him a strong foundation in planning and logistics, which are key aspects of running a school transportation system. We are pleased to welcome him to Bryan ISD.”
